First Coast PT Cruisers Meeting at the I.M. Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless a fun and rewarding experience for all.

Saturday 18 members of the FCPTC  gathered at Metro Park where we were met by Kevin and Sarah from the IM Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless. We all caravanned behind Kevin to the Center where we met by a representative from the Homeward Bound Program, who collected the items our club had been gathering over the last few months to help others as they moved into their new lives self sufficient. Kevin and Sarah then took us on a brief tour of the Center explaining all the different facets that this wonderful place provides not only for their residents but anyone needing help. Many of the benefits understandably have a waiting list; but no one has to go

hungry. The Center serves 3 meals a day, everyday, 365 days a year. Helping to make one of those meals happen, this one Saturday, was our goal.

After the tour, Kevin led us to a dining room with refreshments of drinks and pastries where we could have our monthly meeting. Afterwards it was off to wash, and apron up, including hairnets and gloves. What a lovely site we all were. J The pans of hot food were done and ready to be served. The work was steady and the kitchen of course had everything planned like a science; as empty pans of food were replaced with full ones and plates were passed through the window. The recipients of the meals were so appreciative. It made us thankful for the opportunity to help.

For more information on the IM Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless, please check out their web site. There are so many opportunities to for us to help the people of Jacksonville.
